USS North Carolina

This week we took Mitchell to see the USS North Carolina in Wilmington! Lately Grandpa Brim has been hooked on scuba diving the shipwrecks off the coast of North Carolina. He spent this summer diving several in the area of Morehead City, one being the U-352, a German U-Boat sunken during World War II. We went down to North Topsail to visit Grandma and Grandpa Brim at the beach, and he mentioned wanting to see the USS North Carolina. This one is not at the bottom of the ocean, but a battleship preserved as a museum in the middle of downtown Wilmington. It was a rainy, rainy day. But we all put on our rain jackets. (Mitchell’s Black Dog rain jacket was perfect – Thank Grandma Martin!) We left Grandma Brim on the couch watching the dolphins off the coast of North Topsail (there were about 12!), and we headed down to Wilmington.

It’s funny how 50, 24, and 6 month year old boys all get the same look of awe and amazement when looking at a piece of history like that. It’s like they were all five years old again.

I love this boy. I want him to have every opportunity in this life.  I can’t wait to take him to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, Disney World, the Marine Corps Museum, Union Station, and so many other places as he grows up! Maybe we’ll wait to go to the non-stroller-friendly ones until he can walk though… holy cow is my arm sore from carrying around our 22 pound chunk all afternoon!

Lots of changes coming for the Martin’s in the next few months. Please keep us in your prayers as we make some big decisions and big transitions. 2014 has already been full of new challenges and new opportunities. And we’re not even a week in. Can’t wait reveal my next post… very exciting news for Steve and I am so so so proud of him! That’s all on that for now 😉
By the grace of God we are so blessed in this life.
