Five Years

Five years. Five years since we went back to the same place we first met and said ‘I Do’ in the little high school chapel. It’s our first anniversary where the number is actually a milestone. It may be cliche to say, “we’ve come so far,” but we really have. In our five married years, I’ve finished two degrees and got a big girl job. Steve has been promoted three times, and we’ve lived in three houses and a condo. We added two dogs and two babies to our family. He’s deployed three times, and I couldn’t even begin to tell you the number of letters and sweet messages and billions of text messages he’s written me while we’re apart. And if I told you the number of times a day he says I love you, you probably wouldn’t believe me.

We really have come far. And I feel beyond blessed to have experienced so much happiness with my husband. My husband is my biggest supporter. He’s my best friend. I love his cheesy dad jokes. He’s my cheerleader. He believes in me more than I believe in myself. He’s the best secret keeper. He works so hard and sacrifices so much to provide for our family. He’s the most patient and respectful person I know. He’s currently on the other side of the world and we’re celebrating our time together, apart. I’ve been counting the days until his homecoming. Some days it feels like it’s flying. Some it feels like it’s dragging. But sooner or later he’s coming home to us and I can’t wait.

Happy five years to us ❤
