We spent the first half of this three day weekend hiding away at our go-to beach, North Topsail. The kids were missing our family trips, and I was missing sneaking down here for some alone time with my favorite guy, but we’re well into September and crossing off each day of deployment knowing we’re a little bit closer to homecoming. It is still plenty warm outside, and the water is surprisingly warm too! It might look cloudy and rainy, but if I had someone to watch my babes, I would have been out there swimming.
Mitchell is always so excited to see the beach!
It amazes me how much he really enjoys playing with Julia. When she’s in the playroom, he asks me to let him through the baby gate so he can go play with her! I didn’t have any reservations about that 18 month age gap, but if I did, they would be gone. Everyday they bond more and more, and it’s so fun to watch.
After about an hour, I decided Julia had eaten enough sand and Mitchell was tired enough for nap time. Mitchell thinks he’s a big deal being in charge of the hose. He was happy to rinse off everyone’s feet 🙂
After our cloudy, rainy afternoon on the beach, we got down to the real reason the five of us packed up and made eight trips up and down the stairs unloading the car… relaxation. Mitchell seemed to catch a little bit of a cold while we were down there, which put him in the perfect mood to cuddle on the couch and watch a little Finding Nemo, The Little Mermaid, Shark Tale marathon.
It’s crazy to think eight months ago we called this our home. On Sunday morning, Mitchell rose with the sun, so we packed up camp, and headed home with plenty of time for Walmart and church. A true American Sunday. We’re excited to have Grandma and Grandpa Brim visiting the beach so soon! Until next time, North Topsail.
