Don’t let Julia’s tank top fool you. North Carolina fall has arrived and the temperatures have plummeted to a brisk 70-80 degrees! And if that doesn’t have me feeling like fall when I walk outside, my mom and mother-in-law conspired to fill our front yard with pumpkins, mums, and cornstalks galore! I had every intention of spicing up the front yard for summer, which didn’t happen. But we’re definitely making up for it now!
I love this little sign. I remember buying it for our very first home during our very first married fall, right after Steve came home from his FIRST deployment and we got to live together for the first time after nearly a year of marriage. The military sure can throw you for a loop like that. We had this little pumpkin welcome sign and a pumpkin, and I was so excited to decorate for the fall 🙂 It still stands tall and proud in our garden and it’s a little reminder of when we were just starting out.
This porch just makes me want to sit and watch Mitchell run around the front yard with his baseball bat. In a dream world I’d have that wonderful husband of mine sitting next to me with a dog laying on my feet. But that husband is on the other side of the world and the dog would be off making friends on the other side of the neighborhood. So instead Julia gets to be my little sitting buddy. Not for long though, because this girl is going to be out there in the grass running around with her brother in the blink of an eye.
I think we need another sign that next to that “Welcome” that says “to the mad house…” Just to give people their fair warning when they’re walking into our crazy little place we call home 😉
I just can’t bring myself to put Steve’s rainboots away. Especially when Mitchell points at them and says “Daddy!”
There are so many fall activities I can’t wait to share with these sweet little babes. Pumpkin carving, Trick-or-Treating, bike rides, hoodies and blankets with movies on the couch, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and Thanksgiving in Kansas… That’s right! We booked our tickets last week and we get to hop on a plane next month and go back to my hometown. I’m so excited I’m not even panicking about how I’m going to manage the two of them by myself with a layover. Ha! Being their Momma is really the best. I’m loving life and loving this fall season with them, and only wishing we had more hours in the day to spend together!
