Anyone else start thinking about Christmas card ideas in October? And then scramble to get them in mailboxes by December 20th, hoping maybe the east coast half of your Christmas card list will get theirs before the big day? That was us this year. It took two months for my package to get to him, and then we had to wait another few weeks for no-shave November to be over because I didn’t want a mustache on the Christmas card, and then another few days to take the pictures, etc. etc. etc. But boy, I love Christmas and all of its traditions.
We’ve had some pretty great cards arriving in our mailbox, and it’s a tradition I just love! We have them hanging on our kitchen cabinets and it makes the house feel so homey! We received a card from one of my childhood best friends and her brand new husband this year. What a special time in their life together! Just starting out and celebrating their very first married Christmas! It makes me smile just thinking about our first married Christmas five years ago. But my favorite Christmas card of the year is hands down the one below. I have no idea who this lady is, but everything about this card makes me want to be friends. Yes, yes, yes, and yes.
While we’re on the subject, we’ve surpassed the halfway mark, though! Twice, actually, because this deployment ended up being a few month longer than anticipated. Goodness, we miss him, but that homecoming is going to be so sweet. It’s not going to be quite the same without him to eat all of the monkey bread on Christmas morning, interrupt my cooking to steal some kisses, or snuggling up with Mitchell to watch their hockey. We’re a world apart but our love couldn’t be stronger at the same time. We love that boy in his bomb suit so much, and we can’t wait to get our hands on him again!
