Father’s Day gifts are hard enough to get juuuuust right when you have your guy there to spoil and love up on that special day. But, this year, Father’s Day fell smack dab in the middle of deployment (June was a big month of missed occasions!). I was scratching my head trying to figure out how to spoil our guy. We were strolling through Target and this book – I Love Dad – caught my eye. And right then, I knew it. We’d make him a home video. Off to Kansas we went before we had a chance to make it happen, so when we got there I got to work. When I told my dad my idea, he literally told me I was crazy for thinking I’d get all three kiddos to sit on camera and read him a book. But, with a little help from Final Cut and some splicing and dicing, we made Father’s Day special for our guy on the other side of the world.
It’s still fun for me to go back and watch this sweet video of the kiddos. Video is quickly becoming my new favorite thing because capturing those sweet voices of theirs is something I will cherish forever. Now that we’re knocking on the door of August, we’re in the planning stages of the ultimate homecoming and anniversary gift. We’ve got some pretty great ideas up our sleeve and we’re working hard to make them happen! Stay tuned! 🙂
